What it means for you

Standard vs Pain-Free Knee Replacement

Both operations replace the worn joint. The difference patients notice is how the first days and weeks feel. Your own recovery depends on your health and your knee, which Dr. Kalender reviews with you first.

Frequently asked questions

Is pain-free knee replacement really possible?

Dr. Kalender’s own approach is designed to keep pain as low as possible from the first hours after surgery, so you can walk the day after surgery. Everyone heals a little differently, and in your consultation he will explain what to expect in your case.

Walking the day after surgery is a core part of the approach. Most patients take their first steps that day, guided by the care team.

The difference you notice is in your recovery: less pain in the first days, walking the day after surgery, little or no formal physical therapy for many suitable patients and usually just one night in the hospital.

Yes. Through the free online consultation you can share your X-rays or MRI and your medical history. Dr. Kalender reviews them and tells you whether you are likely to be a candidate before you book any travel.

Plan for your assessment on arrival and your surgery, usually followed by one night in the hospital. Your return date is set separately, once you are medically cleared for a long flight.

Your return date is set after a medical evaluation. A long flight after knee surgery carries a risk of blood clots, so your surgeon decides when it is safe for you to fly and how to reduce that risk.

It depends on factors such as your body weight and activity level. Dr. Kalender will discuss what this means for you during your consultation.
